Muhammad Anwar Al-Sadat was born on December 25, 1918(1918-12-25). He grew up in the town of Mit Ab ul-Kom, Egypt. When Anwar was born, Egypt had become a British colony.
Anwar was Egypt's third (3rd) president. He has served in office for 11 years until he was assassinated on October 6,1981.
In a military school, besides learning math and science, the students also learned how to analyze battles. After graduating, Anwar was sent to an outpost where he met other soldiers who wanted to overthrow British rule. This desire led Sadat to jail twice. He taught himself English and French during his second stay there. While in the military school Sadat met Gamal Abdel Nasser. After Sadat graduated from the military school he once again ran into Nasser. Sadat began as Nasser's public relations minister and trusted lieutenant. Eventually Sadat succeeded Nasser.
