A Bolshevik meeting.

The Bolshevik word come the from the Russian word, "Bolshe," meaning more.
They were a faction of the Marxist Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP) which split apart from the Menshevik faction at the Second Party Congress in 1903 and ultimately became the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The name was changed because Joseph Stalin felt that since there werer no more Mensheviks and the Bolsheviks weren't the majority instead it was the only part, it was renamed Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The Bolsheviks seized power in Russia during the October Revolution phase of the Russian Revolution of 1917, and founded the Soviet Union.
Bolsheviks (or "the Majority") were an organization of professional revolutionaries under a strict internal hierarchy governed by the principle of democratic centralism and quasi-military discipline, who considered themselves as a vanguard of the revolutionary proletariat. Their beliefs and practices were often referred to as Bolshevism. The party was founded by Vladimir Lenin, who also led it in the October Revolution.
The Bolsheviks were born out of Russia’s Social Democrat Party. The Bolsheviks succeeded because they had a great leader named Vladimir Lenin. He was a driven man who believed that those who would lead the workers had to be an educated elite capable of doing things that an uneducated majority could not. He also developed a set of beliefs that would appeal to the working class.
