external image lifeonmars.jpgTo us it is known as any other planet in our solar system (and to others home to alians). In Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep Mars is also a planet were people have immigrated to because of World War Terminus. In the book, World War Terminus has devastated the planet and destroyed nearly all of human civilization. Almost all of the world's major cities have been destroyed and much of the human race has been wiped out. What remains on the surface of Earth is a radioactive wasteland that, in some areas, is so dangerous that going outside at all could make someone sick.
Mars is where the majority of the surviving humans went to escape the radiation on Earth. On Mars, there are colonies where people live, and it is also the planet where androids are manufactured. When someone leaves Earth and comes to Mars, they receive a free android that is designed to "help them" and follow orders. Basically, the androids are slaves because they are not considered real humans. However, many androids try to leave Mars and come to Earth to escape slavery and oppression. And because they aren't technically human, they can't get sick because of the radiation.

Mars is the planet fourth in order from the sun, having a diameter of 4222 miles (6794 km), a mean distance from the sun of 141.6 million miles (227.9 million km), a period of revolution of 686.95 days, and two moons.
Mars has always made scientists wonder whether life can exist on it. With the discovery of ice caps on the northern hemisphere on the planet, scientists think that their belief might actually be true. Because of these evidences there are many science fiction movies made, stating that people on mars will compete with people on earth. They often portray Mars as the evil planet trying to invade earth.

In this book, Androids are escaping from mars because they are there to serve people. They are runaway slaves. Everyone who left earth got there own Androids.

Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the volcanoes, valleys, deserts and polar ice caps of Earth. It is the site of Olympus Mons, the highest known mountain in the Solar System, and of Valles Marineris, the largest canyon. Furthermore, in June 2008 three articles published in Nature presented evidence of an enormous impact crater in Mars' northern hemisphere, 10 600 km long by 8 500 km wide, or roughly four times larger than the largest impact crater yet discovered, the South Pole-Aitken basin.[5][6] In addition to its geographical features, Mars’ rotational period and seasonal cycles are likewise similar to those of Earth.

Mars is a planet that we say has life in it. We sent a robot to Mars to see if its true. we lately discovered there was water in Mars.

Mars is the is the fourth planet from the Sun in the Solar System. The planet is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. It is also referred to as the "Red Planet" because of its reddish appearance. This reddish appearance is due to iron oxide.

Possibility of life
Mars might once have harbored life, and living things might exist there even today. Mars almost certainly has three ingredients that scientists believe are necessary for life: (1) chemical elements such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen that form the building blocks of living things, (2) a source of energy that living organisms can use, and (3) liquid water.
The essential chemical elements likely were present throughout the planet's history. Sunlight could be the energy source, but a second source of energy could be the heat inside Mars. On Earth, internal heat supports life in the deep ocean and in cracks in the crust.
Liquid water apparently carved Mars's large channels, its smaller valleys, and its young gullies. In addition, there are vast quantities of ice within about 3 feet (1 meter) of the surface near the south pole and perhaps near the north pole. Thus, water apparently has existed near the surface over much of the planet's history. And water is probably present beneath the surface today, kept liquid by Mars's internal heat. In 1996, scientists led by David S. McKay, a geologist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Johnson Space Center in Houston, reported that scientists there had found evidence of microscopic Martian life. They discovered this evidence inside a meteorite that had made its way to Earth. The meteorite had been blasted from the surface of Mars, almost certainly by the impact of a much larger meteorite. The small meteorite had then journeyed to Earth, attracted by Earth's gravity. The trip may have taken millions of years.
The evidence included complex organic molecules, grains of a mineral called magnetite that can form within some kinds of bacteria, and tiny structures that resemble fossilized microbes. The scientists' conclusions are controversial, however. There is no general scientific agreement that Mars has ever harbored life.

The structure is about 200 billionths of a meter long and is part of a Martian rock that was found on Earth. Image credit: NASA/Johnson Space Center.

MARS

Mars, (also known as the red planet), is the fourth planet away from the sun. Its right next to earth which is the third planet away from the sun, and Jupiter which is the Fifth. Theres always been a belief that their are marsians living but none have been found. But their is a chance of life that lives their. Scientist have found that their is ice below the ground.

in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? most of the people left to live on Mars. they tried to convince them to move to Mars and if they did they would give them an android for themselve. An android so it could be their slave and do what ever they want it to do. this way they got a lot of people away from living in Earth. Now that earth is pretty much completely empty most of the andriods escape from Mars so they wouldnt have to be servants. once they were free they left to move on earth and either pretend to be a chicken head, someone who was affected by the radiation, or a normal person.mars

In the book do androids dream of electric sheep mars is a colony where poeple go to after the earth becomes to radioactive to be able to live on. The androids hate living on this planet becasue they are being used as slaves so they choose to run away and go to earth.
