Their two best albums are, without a doubt:

Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and

The Wall (1979)

The four crucial members of Pink Floyd are Roger Waters (bass), Richard Wright (keyboards). Nick Mason (drums), David Gilmour (guitar and vocals). Pink Floyd started out in the mid-1960's as a psychedelic rock band, releasing singles and their first album with Syd Barrett as lead guitarist, vocalist and songwriter of the band. Barrett's behaviour became increasingly unpredictable, partly as a consequence of frequent experimentation with psychedelic drugs such as LSD. Eventually Barrett left the group and David Gilmour became the front man of the group, although the primary songwriter and concept artist for "The Wall" is Roger Waters.

Pink Floyd's music is very strange and spacey, and has often been referred to as "Psychedelic Rock" or "Space Rock". They have a very progressive style, with often odd time signatures and rhythms, long instrumental sections, and strange, abstract lyrics. They are also known for their fancy and elaborate live shows, which would include a traveling light show that went with them on tour, an extensive amount of pyrotechnics, and special props such as large helium ballon animals, and in one case, a large, scale model of a placne "crashed into" the stage, leading to great special effects to close the show.
