This is an example home of a higher classs. Higher class is basically where the rich people lay. Rich people are the one that has the most money, stuff, etc. then any of the other social classes.
This is an example of a home that's in middle class. Middle clasis basically the people who isnt poor and isnt rich. They have money but dont have money to buy expenseive stuff like the higher class.
This is an example of the lower class. Is a group of kids that look very poor. It seems they dont have enough clothes or they live in a nieghborhood where is not enviromentalzed well.
Social classes is a system where people are placed in individual groups based on their economical positions.
For example: People who are in the lower class are poor. People who are in the higher class are rich and the middle class are people who are in between.
In the book Persepolis everyone goes by the social classes. Its when you are divided by basically how much money you make. If your rich or poor or middle class. Marjane in the book thinks of her maid like a sister but in real life there is a big difference between the two of them.
Social Classes are based on many things. Sometimes they can be based on money, race and even skin color, and even on how much work you do. The more money you have the higher your social class is. In some societies one can't work up their social class but meanwhile in some a person who starts out poor can work their way up to someone rich and with a lot of money.
Social classes are groups/categories that people are placed under based on the role they place in society which is determined by the amount income that a person makes. When one is put under a certain social class there are very specific rules some people believe that are meant to be followed. One of the beliefs is that if one belongs in a certaian social class, you are not allowed to associate or be seen with anyone higher or lower then your social class. For example, if you want to marry someone, it has to be from someone who is considered in your social class, not higher or lower. If a person from an upper middle class or high class had to associate with someone of a lower class then themselves, it would be most likely because that person is their servant or maid.
How is social class decided?
. The family you are born into and their income.
. The type of education (high school, college, how many degrees) you get, although this does trace back to heredity, since some may not be able to go to college.
Social classes are certain status's of life. Examples of social classes are rich, poor, and average. Social classes are not only in your wealth but also in jobs. For instance in school it's the Principle, the Assistant Principle, the teachers then the lunch staff.
Social classes exist everywhere. In any civilization you will see a civil form of placement. It is generally to keep order and peace in the community. An example of social class is the fuedal system in Europe.

What is social class?
Any observer of American society would quickly note that there are large variations in wealth, material possessions, power and authority, and prestige in our society. They would also note differences in access to education, healthcare and leisure. One child in ten lives in poverty in major industrial countries, one in five in the United States. Taken together these differences in resources and outcomes are thought of as the basis of inequality. What is the source of this inequality? Some say it is the result of an unequal distribution of resources, power and authority.
What are resources: money, land, assets – distinction made between
– monetary value of all own and
– amount of money brought in through wages, investment,
What is power: ability to be in charge, to
What is authority: control, particularly in the face of resistance
(money, land, assets, etc.) the only basis of inequality?
represents another form of inequality – standing, esteem, respect, prestige, may involve physical ability, intelligence, beauty,
are ranked in order of prestige – doctors, corporate lawyers, financial experts … to garbage collectors and janitors.
When sociologists talk of
, they refer to a group of individuals who occupy a similar position in the economic system of production. Within that system occupation is very important because it provides financial rewards, stability and benefits like healthcare. Are people in similar positions, aware of each other? In broad terms, yes. Get information (cues) by type of job, neighborhood, clothing, cars, etc. Also get information by conversation – topics, style, grammar etc. Can people mislead or be misled? Of course. Is there a point of view specific to social class? Middle class values? Working class values?
How many social classes are there in the United States? Disagreement within the field on both the number and the composition of these classes. Many sociologists suggest five:
Upper Class – Elite
Represent institutional leadership, heads of multinational corporations, foundations, universities
Capitalist elite – owners of lands, stocks and bonds and other assets – wealth derived from what they own
Forbes magazine publishes a list of the 400 wealthiest families in America. In 1997, net worth had to be at least $475
Gates, in that year, had net worth pf 39.8 billion. Of all the wealth represented on the Forbes list, more than half is inherited. Newly acquired wealth, nouveau riche, have vast amounts of money but not often accepted into “old money” circles.
Upper Middle Class
Represent scientific and technical knowledge – engineers, accountants, lawyers, architects, university faculty, managers and directors of public and private organizations. Have both high incomes and high social prestige.
Difficult to define a “middle class” (i.e. upper middle, middle
and lower middle) probably the largest class group in the United States – because being middle class is more that just income, about lifestyles and resources, etc.
Lower Middle Class
Provide support for professionals
Engage in data collection., record-keeping
Paralegals.\, bank tellers, sales
Blue-collar workers in skilled trades
Laborers in factories
Nursing home staff
Repair shops, garages
Working poor – work full-time at wages below poverty line
In Persepolis, social class plays a major role in the theme of the book and everything that revolves around Marjane's world. For one thing, her maid isn't allowed to marry outside of her social class and isn't even allowed to dream about being able to without someone interfering. Marjane's father had to go to the man who she had fallen in love with since he did not want her to mess up his image. Through social classes we are able to see the real faces in society and sides we have never seen before. Marjane's father had always been a hardcore revolutionary type of man and had always fought for what he thought was right, yet he stayed with the same antiquated ideas of social class that were not fair.
During the war, it was the lower class who always suffered since they were the ones who were chosen to go into battle first. Everyone else who had money and a private education were not considered eligible to fight, their parents probably paid them out of that happening. Through metaphors and pictures, Marjane is able to show that the rich upper kids didn't have to suffer as much as the ones in the lower class did.
This cartoon shows that it is usually the lower class who gets affected from all the tragedies the upper class has made.
In Persepolis, the only thing that was a major role was social class. The highest social class was Upper middle class. And the lowest was called lower class.
